POSITIONS OF 2016 PRESIDENTIAL AND VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES
Pro-Choice Libertarians solicited or found candidate’s positions on retaining the L.P.’s plank on abortion – and views on abortion in general – in order to inform members, delegates and the media. The Plank reads:
Abortion: Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.
Note that the eventual nominees – New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson the presidential candidate and former Governor William Weld the vice-presidential candidate are pro-choice. Johnson’s campaign website states:
